'Different gravy': Liverpool fans laud Kaide Gordon for Shrewsbury performance
Liverpool squeezed past Shrewsbury Town in the FA Cup third round as a youthful Reds side managed to see off their lower league opponents at Anfield.
Shrewsbury had led through Daniel Udoh in the first half but young forward Kaide Gordon equalised on 34, before a Fabinho penalty just before half-time ensured Liverpool led at the break. From there, it was routine enough for the Reds but they had to wait until the 78th minute for Bobby Firmino to seal the deal. Fabinho scored just before full-time too to make it 4-1 in the end.
For the clash, Liverpool picked a number of young players in the starting XI. Tyler Morton once again started, while Conor Bradley and Elijad Dixon-Bonner were also given the nod. But of all the youngsters on display, it was impressive teenager Kaide Gordon who caught the eye the most.
Gordon, as well as scoring, was a constant threat to the Shrews defence. And on another day, he might have even had a couple more goals to his name. Certainly, for a 17-year-old with little experience behind him, he looked comfortable at first-team level.
Over on social media, Liverpool fans were delighted with what they saw from Gordon. Twitter, in particular, was awash with comments praising the youngster.
Here, then, is what some Liverpool fans had to say about Kaide Gordon’s performance against Shrewsbury today.
Solid enough performance.
Kaide Gordon looks a tool talent.
Think Curtis Jones needs to start showing a bit more, hard to know which position would suit him best.
