‘Different class’: Some Leeds fans impressed by Ian Poveda display for Under-23s

Leeds United’s Under-23s side returned to winning ways on Friday against Wolverhampton Wanderers – and some of the club’s fans on Twitter were wowed by the performance of Ian Poveda.

Mark Jackson’s team earned three points in the Premier League 2 fixture by securing a 2-0 victory.

It was senior player Rodrigo Moreno who netted both first-half goals, before being replaced at half-time.

There were a couple of senior faces involved, with Gaetano Berardi getting the opening 45 minutes as he works his way back from a long-term injury layout.

Leeds youngster Poveda also played in the second half after entering the action at half time.

Aged 21, he’s a regular part of the Whites first-team squad and has made 10 Premier League appearances so far this season.

But the skilful English winger is coming back from a recent ankle injury and he got some important minutes in his tank against Wolves’ Under-23s.

A selection of Leeds supporters on social media were impressed with what they saw from Poveda.

If he wants more regular minutes with the senior team, then surely he’s got to become a bit more decisive around the box as he remains a bit sporadic.

Here are some Leeds fans discussing the winger:
