Arsenal host Tottenham Hotspur in a much-anticipated North London derby on Sunday.
It is Unai Emery’s first taste of derby action in England and he knows fine margins will decide the winner of this contest.
As Emery decides on his tactics, he may have identified central midfield as one of Tottenham’s weaknesses.
With ongoing injury concerns for Mousa Dembele and Victor Wanyama, Spurs are limited in central midfield.
So this North London derby could be decided by how well Eric Dier handles Mesut Ozil.
Both players were rested for their respective midweek European matches and will be fresh for the North London derby.
Dier is so often the scapegoat at Tottenham and Arsenal will hope that the England international has an off day.
But he cannot afford to lose track of his job; Dier will be tasked with keeping Ozil quiet in this game.
Ozil is the architect in the Arsenal midfield and he has the ability to carve out chances for his team-mates and get on the score-sheet himself.
But a common criticism of the German midfield man is that he can have ineffective games.
Dier’s plan will be to stay tight to Ozil, man mark him and limit his influence.
If he sticks to his role, Arsenal’s attacking threat will be diluted but if Ozil is on form, then Spurs could struggle to contain the Gunners.
