Diego Llorente reacts to performance of Liverpool 28-year-old against Leeds

Leeds United’s Diego Llorente singled out Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson Becker for his performance at Elland Road on Monday night.

Leeds defender Llorente scored a late goal for the hosts in the Premier League fixture to draw 1-1 against last season’s champions.

Liverpool find themselves sixth in the league standings though this campaign, and they’ll feel it was two points dropped as Sadio Mane’s first half goal was cancelled out late on.

Goalscorer Llorente credited one opposition player in particular for his efforts.

Reds goalkeeper Alisson, 28, was denied a clean sheet right at the end of the match. But the £150,000-a-week (Spotrac) shot-stopper had frustrated Leeds for most of the evening with a handful of top saves.

“We had a lot of opportunities but their goalkeeper was very, very good,” Llorente told LUTV.

TBR’s View:

Alisson is still striving to get back to the elite standards he’s set in the past couple of years, but it was a reminder on Monday night for anyone who had forgotten his ability.

He’s one of several world-class individuals still on the book at Liverpool, and it would have been ludicrous at the start of the season to even suggest they would miss out on top four.

There are still enough games for Jurgen Klopp’s team to turn things around on the pitch. Meanwhile, off the pitch all the discussion around the proposed European Super League continues.
