Diego Laxalt has explained that he can’t wait to play with Celtic’s Olivier Ntcham, after he completed a move to Parkhead on deadline day on a season-long loan from AC Milan.
The Bhoys confirmed (official website) on Monday evening that 27-year-old star Laxalt has joined them on loan until the end of the campaign.
Laxalt has made a temporary switch to the Scottish giants in pursuit of regular first-team minutes and is a high-profile addition.
The Uruguay international was an important player for his national side back in the 2018 World Cup, plus he’s very experienced in Italy with 170 Serie A appearances.
He is a left-sided player that can play as a full-back or a winger, which is why he could suit Neil Lennon’s system at Celtic of using wing-backs.
Laxalt has claimed he is looking forward to lining up alongside Ntcham, who was a former teammate when the pair overlapped at Genoa.
“I’m very happy to share again new memories with Olivier. I spent a lot of time with Olivier at Genoa when we played there together, and he’s an extremely good player and a good person as well. So I’m very happy and I’m looking forward to playing with him again,” Laxalt said, as quoted by the club’s official website.

TBR’s View:
Celtic managed to pull off a late deal in the window to bring in Laxalt and he’s certainly a big boost to the squad, who are hunting down a 10th consecutive league title.
The South American hasn’t been able to nail down a regular starting position at Milan, but on his day’s he a real attacking threat with his pace and creativity in wide areas.
It looks like he could be a real hit in the Scottish division and he will add some much-needed experience in European competitions as well.
