France manager Didier Deschamps has calmed concerns about Tanguy Ndombele’s fitness.
Speaking at a press conference (reported via Get Football News France), Deschamps said he is not worried about Ndombele. He expects the Tottenham Hotspur midfielder to return to action within 48 hours.
Ndombele was replaced at half-time as Tottenham drew 1-1 at home to Sheffield United last weekend. Despite Tottenham’s struggles, Ndombele has impressed with his recent performances.
The France international is in Deschamps’ squad for the upcoming Euro qualifiers against Moldova and Albania. But he is an injury doubt. Shortly after the game on Saturday, Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino confirmed that Ndombele was withdrawn due to a problem with his groin (via Football London).

However, speaking in Clairefontaine yesterday, Deschamps said (via Get Football News France): “Tanguy has arrived at Clairefontaine, Monday morning, before all of the others. He had a reassuring conversation with the doctor. There is a little knock which should be sorted out in the next 48 hours.“
TBR’s view
Tottenham are down in 14th place – below the likes of Newcastle United and Crystal Palace. Ndombele has been a rare shining light when he has played and they need him back to his full fitness.
The 22-year-old will only get better with more game time in the Premier League. He could be a future star for club and country and this injury news is a welcome boost.
