Ian Wright has been speaking on the latest Wrighty’s House podcast and is shocked by Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane’s pace on international duty this week.

Wright spoke about England’s thrilling 3-3 draw with Germany at Wembley Stadium on Monday night.

Gareth Southgate’s men found themselves 2-0 down in the second-half. But turned the game around after Bukayo Saka and Mason Mount were introduced to the action.

Harry Kane put the Three Lions 3-2 up after another pinpoint penalty kick. But his side were denied after a late error from Nick Pope.

And Wright has said that he was shocked by how fast Kane looked during the game.

Wright shocked by Kane’s pace

Speaking on Wrighty’s House, the former Arsenal striker highlighted Kane’s pace during international duty this week.

Host Flo Lloyd-House said: “The way that the energy flipped [after the subs]. Raheem Sterling played really well, his finish was off but he played really well.”

And Wright responded: “Did you see Harry Kane showing pace as well?!”

Lloyd-House added: “Exactly! It was something lifted. A switch flipped inside of them, but you need to be unleashing that from the off.

“That’s what I’m thinking!” Wright agreed.

Kane is certainly not renowned for his pace and brings other qualities to the table, like his passing and clinical finishing.

The England captain does not need quickness as he often plays intelligently and picks up dangerous positions on the pitch.

But it is no surprise to see Kane looking slightly quicker at the moment after a gruelling pre-season under Antonio Conte.

The Italian boss has clearly got his Spurs squad into brilliant shape for the Premier League season and Kane is reaping the rewards.
