Liverpool huffed and puffed their way past Burnley yesterday to pick up another valuable three points in their quest for Premier League glory.
Two second half goals, capped off by a fine header from Darwin Nunez, ensured Liverpool got the win and went back to the top of the Premier League table.
Of course, the game changed when Trent Alexander-Arnold had to go off at half-time. That meant the introduction of Harvey Elliott, with Curtis Jones moving to right-back.
And speaking about the young duo, Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp was full of praise for both Jones and Elliott’s contributions.

Jurgen Klopp praises Curtis Jones and Harvey Elliott
Speaking to the BBC immediately after the game, Klopp was quick to laud both Elliott and Jones for how they played against the Clarets.
“It was super difficult today. We lost so many players two weeks ago and now, then Trent Alexander-Arnold has to go off at half-time. We have to see what’s going on there. Curtis Jones had to go right-back and had never played there his entire life! He did so well. We scored these wonderful goals. Harvey Elliott came on and had a real impact. Top performances. We did really well it was just a difficult one,” Klopp said.
Liverpool’s youngsters a driving force
Liverpool might have some top experience in their team with players like Virgil van Dijk, Alisson Becker and Mo Salah. But right now, the young players in the squad are acting like a fresh driving force for the Reds.
The likes of Elliott and Jones are proving by the week they can be relied upon by Klopp to do the business and yesterday was another example of this.
As the season ticks along, Liverpool’s youngsters are becoming more and more valuable in their performances and what they bring to the team.
With Klopp going in the summer, it bodes well for Liverpool that they have these players coming through and making such a difference.
