Everton enjoyed a busy summer as Carlo Ancelotti made a number of fine signings to bolster his Toffees squad.
The likes of James Rodriguez, Allan, and Abdoulaye Doucoure have all added strength in-depth and quality to the ranks, while the signing of Ben Godfrey should prove a smart one in the long-term.

However, one player the club did reportedly miss out on was Barcelona defender, Jean-Clair Todibo. The young defender, who had spent time with Schalke previously, ended up moving to Benfica, despite talk of Everton leading an £18m chase for him.
But fast forward four months, and it looks like Everton might have got the last laugh when it comes to Todibo.
Some harsh words from Benfica boss Jorge Jesus and a return to Barcelona already look like proving Carlo Ancelotti was right to ignore this one in the end.
Struggles
Todibo has had a torrid time since moving to Benfica in the summer.
This week, Benfica boss, Jesus, slammed the Frenchman, saying that Todibo didn’t have ‘the physical or tactical condition’ to be considered for selection for the Portuguese giants. Indeed, talk of a quick return to Barcelona is said to be intensifying.

Everton, then, could have saved themselves a lot of time and effort by missing out on Todibo.
The Premier League demands strong defenders and players who can adapt quickly. Todibo, it seems, has struggled to tick any of those boxes at Benfica, meaning the Toffees can sit back and consider themselves £18m better off.
