Chelsea have been busy in the summer transfer window, with a number of new signings arriving at Stamford Bridge and more on the way.

Liam Delap, Dario Essugo, Mamadou Sarr and Kendry Paez have all joined Chelsea in recent weeks, while Estevao is set to arrive in July.

Chelsea enjoyed a bright season in which they qualified for the Champions League and won the Europa Conference League, and they’ll be eager to kick on.

However, a new transfer rumour has emerged regarding Chelsea and a Premier League forward which fans aren’t particularly happy about.

Chelsea fans not sure about Joao Pedro as a target

On Wednesday, Fabrizio Romano reported that Chelsea have made contact over Brighton & Hove Albion forward Joao Pedro.

Romano claimed that Pedro is highly appreciated by Chelsea, who have made initial contact over his situation.

TBR Football chief correspondent Graeme Bailey recently confirmed that Pedro could be available for “less than £60million” this summer.

However, a number of Chelsea fans don’t think Pedro is worth anywhere close to that figure as they made their feelings known on social media.

“I want Ekitike more than Joao Pedro,” one fan said on X. “And I would rather pay £85m for Ekitike than Joao Pedro because I don’t see Joao Pedro being good for us.”

Another wrote: “I’m a fan of Joao Pedro cause he brings the utmost passion and would die for our badge.

“However, I honestly don’t think he’s that good despite being raw and I think £60m is way too much. If he was valued around £30m I would do it.”

The criticism of the Pedro links kept coming, with one fan writing: “Suffered all season to get UCL and we are getting Delap, Joao Pedro, and Gittens. If you don’t laugh, you’ll cry.”

Another said: “Surely for an extra £20million we’d be able to get (Morgan) Rogers who’s a huge upgrade.

“I don’t think Joao Pedro is a needle mover – he doesn’t even start.”

Another said: “£10-15million more and you have Morgan Rogers who is a much better player than Pedro. Ekitike far away better than this guy.”

Why Joao Pedro is likely to leave Brighton this summer as Newcastle also in pursuit

Along with Chelsea, Newcastle United are in pursuit of Pedro, who Brighton are ready to sell.

A training-ground clash between Pedro and Jan Paul van Hecke has resulted in the former becoming a prime candidate to leave.

Pedro was a notable absentee from Brighton’s 3-2 win over Liverpool in the Premier League on 19 May.

Seagulls head coach Fabian Hurzeler said that the Brazilian was not involved for “personal reasons”.

Pedro then missed the season finale against Tottenham, with Hurzeler claiming it was because of a “small issue” in training.

Bailey recently confirmed that “Joao Pedro to Newcastle is a real thing now.”

He added: “Pedro has had a massive fallout at Brighton, the club played it down but they are ready to let him go now. I say ‘let him go’, they are ready to sell him for a certain price.

“I think his price will be below £60million because of that falling out with Jan Paul van Hecke, who’s going to get a new deal – Pedro wants out now really.”
