A recent report has now revealed details about Eddie Howe’s Newcastle United release clause amid interest from the FA about the vacant England job.

Following England’s Euro 2024 final defeat to Spain, Gareth Southgate has resigned as England manager and the FA will now begin the process of identifying his successor.

Thomas Tuchel, Mauricio Pochettino, Graham Potter and Lee Carsley have all been mooted as potential candidates.

Newcastle boss Eddie Howe has also emerged as a favourite and further details about his contract at St James’ Park have now been revealed.

Eddie Howe has a £5m release clause

According to the Daily Mail, Newcastle boss Eddie Howe has an active £5m release clause in his contract.

It was initially an £8m buyout but now that the Tynesiders are no longer a Champions League club, it has been slashed by £3m.

At this stage, there has been no approach from the FA and Howe is believed to be relaxed about the situation, with his focus on preparing for the fast approaching Premier League campaign.

Though, Newcastle are braced for an approach in the coming days and it’s an opportunity that will be hard to stand in the way of.

Eddie Howe will have tough decision to make

All signs point to the fact Howe will be offered an interview by the FA, so he has a really tricky decision to make.

He’s already added four new signings to his squad with other deals being worked on so he may feel it’s come too late to depart Newcastle at this stage.

A telling week lies ahead.
