Liverpool should be looking to sign Watford midfielder, Abdoulaye Doucoure, according to former England and Man United midfielder, Owen Hargreaves.
The Hornets star was in fine form as they overcame Liverpool at Vicarage Road. With Jordan Henderson missing for the Reds, Doucoure seized his chance to dominate the centre of the park.
And his performance was so good, that Hargreaves believes he is the one player Liverpool should be looking to bring in during the summer.
‘He’s one of the most influential players in the Premier League who doesn’t play in the big six,” Hargreaves said (quotes from the Metro via Premier League productions).
“He’s one of those players who can give a team so much, he used to play a lot deeper but now he’s in the box a lot more.
“He’s got goals, he’s got assists he’s so athletic. He’s got that frame of Paul Pogba, he’s got a good touch and he can finish. This guy could play in Liverpool’s midfield that’s how good he is.”
Doucoure has been an influential figure for Watford for the last few seasons now. Having already been a regular, he has been given a further lease of life by Nigel Pearson it seems.
The midfielder has attracted attention from elsewhere on a number of occasions. Coincidentally, the latest team to show interest were Liverpool’s city rivals, Everton.

With Henderson missing, the Liverpool midfield looked so lightweight. Adam Lallana struggled when he came on while Fabinho didn’t seem to inject any energy into the team.
It makes sense, then, that Hargreaves thinks Doucoure would do a job at Anfield.
Given he is only 27, he still should have his prime years ahead of him. As Liverpool continue to race towards the title despite the loss, Jurgen Klopp will have one eye on summer recruits.
Doucoure, then, might well have jumped up his shopping list after this showing.
