Arsenal defender Cedric Soares has received an international call-up to the Portugal squad – and some Gunners fans on Twitter are excited by the news.
Cedric, who earns £75,000-a-week (Spotrac), has been recalled to the senior Portugal squad for the first time since 2018.
He was part of the team that won the European Championships in 2016 and has 33 internatonal caps, but has been out of the fold in recent years.
The 29-year-old has been playing fairly regularly this campaign at the Emirates Stadium, where he’s competing with Hector Bellerin for the right-back position.
Additionally, he’s slotted in at left-back at times as well due to his versatility.
He’s now back in the mix for national side Portugal, who on paper appear to have one of the strongest squads going into this summer’s European Championships.

A selection of Arsenal supporters on social media feel Cedric’s call-up is fully justified, and they’ve given him huge praise for his contribution this season.
After his loan deal was turned into a permanent one last summer, it looked like he’d be arriving to play a back-up role at the north London outfit.
But his consistent defensive performances has forced manager Mikel Arteta to rethink that in the past couple of months.
