Liverpool U23 boss Neil Critchley has told the club’s official website that Elijah Dixon-Bonner has earned his new contract.
Critchley has praised Dixon-Bonner’s approach and willingness to learn this season. He believes the 18-year-old has improved significantly and deserves the contract extension.
Earlier this week, Liverpool announced that Dixon-Bonner had signed a new deal. The young central midfielder has not made his first-team debut yet but he is highly regarded by the club.
After scoring against Accrington Stanley in the EFL Trophy, Dixon-Bonner was given an extension to his deal. The England youth starlet will now be aiming for a first-team promotion.
Critchley on Dixon-Bonner

Critchley told liverpoolfc.com: “We always like to support and reward our players when they deserve it and Elijah, from the moment he came back for pre-season, has deserved it. He has shown a new maturity in terms of his approach, his learning and his training.
“That was a nice moment for him and I’m looking forward to seeing how he develops in the next few years. I think Elijah has made good progress so far this season.”
TBR’s view
The path to the first-team is clear for Dixon-Bonner. Jurgen Klopp has proven that he gives youth a chance so if Dixon-Bonner impresses, he’ll get a first-team game soon.
Dixon-Bonner must take inspiration from U23 team-mates like Curtis Jones, Rhian Brewster and Neco Williams. Several other Liverpool players have also made their debuts this season so Dixon-Bonner could get his opportunity if his improvement continues.
