Aberdeen defender Scott McKenna has been linked with several moves in recent months. Aston Villa were very keen in the summer, as were Celtic.
Celtic are certainly in need of a new central defender and the Scotland international has all the attributes to go on and become a top player at Parkhead.

Aberdeen, of course, are reluctant to sell. But as Derek McInnes, the Aberdeen manager confirmed, things can change quickly in football and the defender could be sold at the right price. That right price, as reported by the Daily Record, is £10 million.
He even suggested the Dons would be open to a sale with a potential loan back until the end of the season.
“It’s up to other clubs to come in. Hopefully, nobody comes in, but it can change pretty quickly. If somebody’s in desperation and in need they will pay the money, so we’ll see.
“The ideal scenario would be if we had to sell McKenna in January we would get him back on loan, but that’s not something we’re actively trying to promote.”

Which could be perfect for Celtic.
Celtic need a new centre-back, but mainly for beyond the end of the current campaign. The Bhoys are likely to see Dedryck Boyata leave in the summer. Filip Benkovic is also only on loan from Leicester City and his long-term future is elsewhere.
So Signing McKenna now but allowing him to stay at Aberdeen makes perfect sense for Celtic. He could also help them take points off of title rivals, with Aberdeen not in the picture this season.
Signing McKenna now, but allowing him to remain at Aberdeen until the end of the campaign could be the best possible option for Celtic and it seems more than doable.
