Derby County are among a number of Championship clubs keen on the loan signature of Bournemouth defender Jack Simpson this month.
According to Sky Sports, second tier rivals Middlesbrough and Stoke are both also interested in signing the 23-year-old defender.
Bournemouth will apparently make a decision on whether they wish to loan Simpson out for the remainder of the season this week.
And if they do decide to let him leave, it will spark a transfer tussle in the Championship with all three clubs looking to bolster their backline with some Premier League quality.
TBR’s View – Simpson should have a point to prove
Bournemouth have struggled badly for defensive solidity this season and yet Simpson has still not been able to nail down his regular spot in the team.
If he is allowed to leave – and that lack of gametime may mean that a loan is the best thing for his development – Simpson should have a point to prove.
That would make him a coup for any club which wins the race for his signature, and at 23, he is experienced and developed enough to cope with the demands of the Championship but should still have that hunger to prove himself.
