Derby could have engineered a meaningless final game of the season against West Brom on Sunday if they’d seen out their match against Swansea last night.
As it was, Wayne Routledge earned the hosts a 1-1 draw and Derby were on the back foot in the closing stages of the match, meaning that the race for the top six will go down to the final match of the season.
Derby face a tough game, against West Brom, who score goals but have nothing to really play for, barring third if Leeds have an aberration and lose against already relegated Ipswich, on Sunday.
But the club has become to used to blowing it at the last moment that some fans are getting very twitchy indeed about the prospect of a final day shootout, with Middlesbrough and Bristol City lurking behind with interest.
Twitter threw up plenty of tweets from rival fans expecting Derby to blow it, as well as those from their own fanbase who are now fearing the worst now that the tension has been ramped up even further.
We’ve put together the best of the reaction from some of the Rams fans who are getting a little nervous. There’s no reason why they should ‘bottle’ it again, but when it’s happened before, the fear of history repeating itself is understandable…
Cheers but you must remember we are derby county, the Tottenham of the championship
