Derby fans react as Newcastle reportedly look at hiring Wayne Rooney

Newcastle United have reportedly considered the option of hiring Wayne Rooney, raiding Derby County – and Derby fans have responded on Twitter.

Rooney, 35, is currently learning his trade at Championship side Derby County. However, it has been anything but plain sailing so far.

Going from player to manager, England’s leading goalscorer has won just 13 of his 50 games in charge. Derby have been handed a 12-point deduction.

It leaves the Rams rock bottom and six points adrift. Had the deduction been avoided, Derby would sit in a much healthier 14th place.

That has seemingly caught the eye of Newcastle’s new owners. They are reportedly expected to replace Steve Bruce in the next hours or days.

What are Derby fans saying as Newcastle eye Rooney?

Rooney has come off well when talking to the press on numerous occasions. In the midst of drama, he has coped well – other than a couple of incidents.

But he is lacking in any kind of big experience, and is yet to manage in the Premier League. So, would he really get a job like the Newcastle role?

The Toon would be better advised to go for a manager with more experience. One with the know how when it comes to a bid budget.

Derby fans have reacted to the news that Rooney is a name on Newcastle’s shortlist. It is a mixed reaction – some are happy to see him go north.
