As soon as it became apparently that Leeds United and Derby County were on a collision course to meet in the semi-finals of the Championship play-offs, Spygate was always going to be at the centre of the controversy.
As much as both managers tried to remain professional and play down the impact of the scandal from earlier in the season, it was always going to be on the agenda for both sets of fans.
Leeds took a new chant to Derby on Saturday, mocking Frank Lampard for ‘crying’ about the whole affair and poking fun at the fact that their side had won every meeting between the pair so far this term.
But Derby struck back when it mattered at Elland Road last night, transforming a serene 1-0 Leeds lead as the first half neared its conclusion into a 4-2 victory, helped by a Jack Marriott double.

Lampard was quite clearly doubly pumped up for last night’s game, losing some of his usual calm on the touchline, but had the last laugh at the final whistle.
His passionate on-pitch celebrations were followed by footage from the official Derby Twitter account showing him leading a sarcastic chant of the very same song to hail his players for booking a spot at Wembley on May 27…
