Derby County defender Fikayo Tomori put in a man of the match performance for England’s Under-21s side on Thursday night – and many of the club’s supporters raved about his display on Twitter.
The 21-year-old is currently on a season-long loan spell with the Rams from Chelsea and has been an ever-present in Frank Lampard’s XI.
He is a no-nonsense centre-back that has looked fairly dependable in the Championship, with the odd mistake that is likely to come from a rising star.
Tomori was involved in a 1-1 draw for the Young Lions against Poland’s Under-21s team.
Everton centre-forward Dominic Calvert-Lewin had put Aidy Boothroyd’s side in front, but Sebastian Szymanski scored a stunning free-kick to equalise.
Tomori was excellent for England defensively and his rapid pace got his side out of trouble on a number of occasions.
The all-action centre-back put in a couple of brilliant tackles and was a beast in the air, which are all signs for parent club Chelsea that he’s improving rapidly this campaign with Derby.
He is becoming an important part of England’s Under-21s side in the heart of defence and will hope to be involved in the European Championships in the summer.
Here are some of the Derby fans hailing their defender for his international performance:
