Derby County have taken the decision to extend the contract of midfielder Tom Huddlestone, as confirmed on the club’s official website.
The ex-England international has penned a new deal which will see him stay at Pride Park until the end of next season.
At 32-years-old it is perhaps something of a surprise to see Huddlestone extend his stay in the East Midlands. That said, his presence will give a young dressing room an injection of experience.
The veteran has played 26 times for the Rams this season, becoming a key player under the guidance boss Frank Lampard.
Huddlestone began his career with Rams before moving to Tottenham in 2005.
After 209 appearances for Spurs, he switched to Hull and played a further 161 times.
Following news of an extension to his contract, some supporters have taken to Twitter to offer their opinion.
It is fair to say that the reaction is extremely mixed with some fans pleased and others up in arms over the latest club announcement.

The dodgy contracts handed out by Sam Rush still going strong then

Poor decision, way too slow, now getting caught on the ball, doesn't protect the back four at all, soppy stuff.

Really? Thought we were supposed to be getting rid of overpaid, overrated, bang average players.

Wrong decision, way past it and far to slow. Must be based on FL realising Evans isn’t good enough

Disappointed. But still behind Lamps and the club to push forward.
