Derby County will take on Millwall this evening in a massive Championship encounter at Pride Park.
The Rams crashed out of the FA Cup to Brighton at the weekend and Frank Lampard’s men can direct their entire focus towards promotion.
Lampard’s team will move back into the top six if they can beat the Lions this evening.
Derby have been a little bit inconsistent of late and were perhaps focusing too much on their cup run.
Those ambitions have now been extinguished and it looks set to be an exciting couple of months for the Rams supporters.
Ahead of this evening’s game, we look at three keys towards a Derby win.
One thing that Millwall boss Neil Harris gets from his players his hard work and determination.
The Rams will come up against 11 players tonight who will put their bodies on the line to win three points for Millwall.
Lampard’s team need to match that philosophy if they are to claim three points.
As this is Derby’s game in hand they can ill-afford to waste the opportunity.
A win would pile the pressure back on the teams chasing the top-six and that is a huge incentive for the Rams.
No more experiments
During the Rams’ last league game against Ipswich Town, Lampard opted to rest a few of his better players.
A midfield of Andy King and Bradley Johnson backfired and Derby were lucky not to be turned over.
If his best players are fit then they need to be starting regularly between now and the end of the season.
The Rams notoriously fade away in February and March and Lampard can’t let that happen again this time around.
Keep faith in Huddlestone
The 32-year-old has been in and out of the side this season.
It is fair to say that Derby look a much better side when the veteran performer is playing.
Millwall are a side boasting lots of physicality and Derby’s best chance of a win is with Huddlestone in the team.
Aside from the ex-Hull man, the Rams’ side is relatively young and his experience could prove vital tonight.
