Derby County’s under-23 outfit played out a 2-2 draw with Tottenham Hotspur at Loughborough University last night.

Jordan Brown and Morgan Whittaker scored the goals for the Rams as they stayed top of Premier League 2.

The future looks seriously bright for Derby and several youngsters have been promoted to Phillip Cocu’s first-team in recent weeks.

It wasn’t all good news for Derby last night, however.

Krystian Bielik was included in the team as he looked to stay fit during his current suspension.

The Polish utility man lasted just 14 minutes, however, before leaving the field on a stretcher.

The 22-year-old cost the Rams £10 million during the summer (BBC). He was dismissed against Charlton in December and was due to return to the first-team at the weekend.

That could now be in jeopardy, given the injury sustained last night.

Derby’s squad is on the small side as it is and Cocu will be desperately disappointed if Bielik is now ruled out for a prolonged period of time.

Derby face Hull at Pride Park on Saturday, before turning their attention towards an FA Cup tie with Northampton Town.

Following Bielik’s injury, Derby fans took to Twitter to share their frustrations.
