Derby County fans react to performance of Max Lowe against Bristol City

The left-back was out of sorts as the Robins ran riot for an hour against the Rams.

Derby County’s play-off aspirations suffered a setback last night as they were beaten 3-2 by Bristol City at Ashton Gate.

The Robins led 3-0 on the hour mark thanks to goals by Nahki Wells, Filip Benkovic and Famara Diedhiou.

Derby did strike back when Martyn Waghorn and Chris Martin made things interesting, but it wasn’t to be and the Robins stood firm.

It’s been a strange old season for the Rams who have been very much a team in transition with Frank Lampard being replaced by Philip Cocu during the summer.

Derby have struggled for consistency and although their play-off dream isn’t dead, with every defeat the prospects of a top-six finish do look less likely.

The Rams are now 10 points away from a play-off place and are down in 13th in the Championship.

Last night’s game was lost through some pretty awful defending and one man in the firing line afterwards was defender Max Lowe.

The 22-year-old lined-up at left-back but was left badly exposed, at fault for arguably two of the Robins’ goals.

Lowe is one of Derby’s future stars and they will hope for more from him as the season progresses into the business stages.

After cutting his teeth on loan at Aberdeen it was hoped he’d have more of an impact during 2019/20, but things have proved a struggle at times.

Here is a selection of tweets from Derby fans on the performance of Max Lowe:
