Derby County chief Mel Morris has emphatically denied that his club will be making a swoop for Rangers manager this summer.
On the Jim White show on talkSPORT (broadcast 26/06 from 10:00am) Morris spoke out about the speculation surrounding the future of his current manager Frank Lampard.
But crucially for Rangers fans, he called links with Gerrard ‘absolute rubbish’, allowing the Gers to continue with their pre-season plans without the talk lingering.
There was never a real suggestion Gerrard would go anyway – he is only a year into what he wants to do at Ibrox and the next goal is to get a trophy in 2019/20.

And Celtic found out that the Midlands and English football can tempt a manager away with an exciting project and money to spend – even if Leicester are a more attractive prospect than Derby at this moment in time.
But Gerrard’s future looks set for now, unless Newcastle come in for him to replace his old Liverpool manager Rafa Benitez and the talk starts again…
