Mauricio Pochettino will be weighing up his options after Moussa Sissoko limped off against Manchester United last weekend.
The Frenchman has been in inspired form for Tottenham Hotspur this season but now joins Eric Dier and Victor Wanyama on the injury list.
And Tottenham might be light in central midfield with Mousa Dembele set to seal a move to China, according to Sky Sports News.
Pochettino needs to find a central midfielder to replace the 31-year-old and provide cover while Dier, Wanyama and Sissoko are nursed back to fitness.
Tottenham have currently been left with young duo Oliver Skipp and Harry Winks in this department and they could do with a fresh face.
Spurs’ bitter rivals Arsenal have been strongly linked with a move for Denis Suarez this month. According to various media outlets, such as The Guardian, Arsenal are in talks with Barcelona over a move for Suarez.
The 25-year-old could cost around £20m, as per this report by The Guardian, and Tottenham should enter the race.
Suarez is a talented ball-playing midfielder but game time has been hard to come by this season for him. With just five appearances to his name this season (and no starts), his future at the Camp Nou looks bleak.
Tottenham could allow the once-capped Spain international to reinvent himself in the Premier League and he could be an immediate fix to their central midfield problems.
The former Manchester City youngster is also a sensible long-term option for Spurs.
