Demba Ba has shared his thoughts on THAT goal vs Liverpool
Demba Ba opens up on killing Steven Gerrard’s dream.
The Senegalese forward recently retired after a wonderful career full of magical moments.
The most memorable of those moments famously came at Anfield.
When playing for Chelsea, Ba scored a key goal that played apart in Liverpool’s failed title bid in 2014.
That goal only cam about as a result of Steven Gerrard’s slip.
The slip has become a moment that fans still jibe Liverpool fans with and it took it’s toll on the then-Reds skipper.
When talking about this moment, Ba has no regrets.

Speaking in an interview with The Athletic, Ba stated:
“I only realised how big a deal that was a couple of years later, when people still talked about it.”
“They still talk about it!”
“It was traumatic for them. But we didn’t enjoy the fact that we killed their dream, we simply enjoyed winning.”
“That’s the game.”
“You make errors and others take advantage. What Steven Gerrard has done for the world of football is tremendous.”
“But this is life, unfortunately. Not all stories can end in fairytales.”
It’s hard to argue with Ba.
He has a good perspective of the incident and whilst it may be a moment that haunts Liverpool fans, hearing of Ba’s respect will help.
That game proved crucial in the title race seven years ago.
Manchester City would go on to claim the title, with the Reds runners-up and Chelsea in third.
Just six years on the Anfield crowd did get to see a famous title victory.
Unfortunately, though, it came a few years too late for Gerrard to be able to celebrate it as a player.
