Patrick Bamford produced a masterclass performance on Friday night for Leeds United, which prompted a well done message from Tottenham’s Dele Alli.
Leeds moved up to third in the Premier League table after a 3-0 away victory against Aston Villa, who have now lost their 100 per cent winning start to the season.
Marcelo Bielsa’s side turned up the heat in the second-half with three goals and it was their in-form striker who bagged them all.
Bamford’s hat-trick started in the 55th minute when he arrived at the back-post to tap in a simple finish from close-range.
The 27-year-old doubled his and his team’s tally with a brilliant left-footed shot from distance which took a slight deflection into the top corner.
His third goal wrapped up three points for the Whites, as he somehow managed to manoeuvre space from himself in a crowded penalty box and curl the ball into the top corner.
Spurs star Alli, who previously played alongside Bamford at MK Dons, posted a message on his Instagram story to the Leeds man after his stunning hat-trick.
Bamford had so many doubters going into the new season and many expected him to lose his starting position to summer signing Rodrigo, but he’s playing the best football of his career right now and must be loving life under Bielsa.
The left-footed centre-forward leads the line so well for the Yorkshire giants with his incredible work-rate and willingness to run the channels, plus he’s now finding a clinical touch in front of goal.
He’s now scored six goals in six Premier League league games this season, which is a huge message to those who doubted if he has top-flight quality.
