Tottenham have seen in the past that taking a gamble on players from the lower leagues can pay off, something that happened when they struck gold with Dele Alli.
Spurs paid £5million (BBC) back in 2015 to sign Alli from MK Dons and he made a remarkable step up from League One to the Premier League with real comfort.
The attacking midfielder managed 10 goals and 11 assists across all competitions during his first campaign with Spurs.
It was clear that Alli was a star in the making back at MK Dons, but it took a gamble on him from Spurs to give him a shot in the top-flight and he’s not looked back since.
The 23-year-old England international has played 219 senior games for Spurs and on his day is a creative playmaker that has shown his talents on the elite stage.
Spurs should perhaps look to the Alli success story when it comes to their reported interest in QPR’s Eberechi Eze.

According to the Sun, Spurs are interested in Eze from Championship side QPR and they have merged as favourites to sign him.
The report explains that he is valued around £20million, which has put off top-flight teams Sheffield United and Crystal Palace.
His price tag is four times what Spurs paid for Alli at the time, but he’s far more progressed in his career and there are similarities between the pair.
Eze, 21, has already scored 12 goals and supplied eight assists across all competitions for QPR.
Jose Mourinho’s side should seriously consider going all out for the QPR playmaker, as he could turn out to be another gem from the lower league and a future star.
