Dele Alli hits a new low, a year after Tottenham exit

Dele Alli was destined to become a superstar for Tottenham Hotspur and England, but his career has just not gone the way it should have.

The Englishman was among the best-attacking midfielders in the country when he was at Spurs under Mauricio Pochettino, but since the Argentine left Tottenham, he has not been the same.

Now, Alli has hit a new low.

Dele Alli hits a new low, a year after Tottenham exit

Tottenham Hotspur let Dele Alli leave the club and join Everton in January last year.

Many felt a change of scenery could benefit the Englishman massively, but he couldn’t get going under Frank Lampard either. He played just over 360 minutes of football before the Toffees decided to move him on.

Alli joined Turkish giants Besiktas on loan in the summer with the hope of turning his career around. Sadly, that hasn’t happened, and his manager, Senol Gunes, seems to have had enough of him already.

The Besiktas boss has publicly claimed that Alli, who has played just one minute of football in the league since November, simply does not deserve to play as he cannot contribute to his side in any way.

Gunes said, as quoted by talkSPORT: “Dele Alli has had a good career, but I don’t think he deserves to play right now.

“Sending the player [back to Everton] is something else and not the topic here. We expect him to contribute to the team, but we think he cannot contribute at the moment.

“We will evaluate it with him and the club.”

It really is a shame that Alli’s career has come to this.

Failing at Tottenham and Everton after all the hype was bad enough, but for his manager to come out and tell the world that he does not deserve to play is a whole new low.

We just can’t understand how someone as talented as Alli can go from being one of the best players of his age in the Premier League to an unwanted man at a club in Turkey.

It really is sad that he is where he is – hopefully, he can turn things around somewhere.
