Tottenham Hotspur have recently been linked with a potential summer move for Liverpool defender Dejan Lovren. The rumours stem from a report in La Lazio Siamo Noi, suggesting Tottenham as one of several teams interested in the £18 million-rated Croatian star.
The news has been given extra credence this week via a report from The Mirror, who suggest Lovren is one of six players potentially up for sale at Anfield.
Of course, given Tottenham’s defensive frailties this season, many would welcome Lovren in North London.
However, Lovren has not exactly had a good relationship with Spurs in the past. In particular, two players appear to have rubbed him up the wrong way.
Harry Kane is one of them. The reason why is clear for Tottenham fans. On several occasions, the Spurs striker completely outplayed Lovren.
It has seemingly led to Lovren constantly attempting to troll Kane on social media. In May 2018, he was mocking the England striker (as reported by Football.London) for his dig regarding Kane claiming a goal awarded to team-mate Christian Eriksen.
Lovren then took great pleasure in marshalling Kane during England’s World Cup semi-final defeat to Croatia.
Dele Alli is another who has suffered the wrath of Lovren. As reported by the Daily Mail, Lovren had a dig at Alli over social media regarding the Tottenham player’s apparent dive in a 2018 202 draw at Anfield.
All in all, it has led to Lovren being near-universally disliked among the Tottenham fanbase and the Croatian would have a lot of making up to do if he was to make the move to North London.
