Marko Grujic was part of the FC Porto side that stunned Juventus on Tuesday night in the Champions League but once incident has caught the attention of Liverpool fans on social media – and Dejan Lovren has now also reacted.
Porto came into the match having won 2-1 at home, but Juventus were expected to progress. However, despite going down to 10 men after 54 minutes, Porto limited Juventus to the same scoreline – forcing extra-time.
With Grujic coming on just before extra-time, Sergio Oliveira notched his second of the night and that meant Juve had to win by two clear goals on the night – only managing one more through Adrien Rabiot. Porto went through.
During extra-time, Grujic won a free-kick when he went round Adrien Rabiot and somewhat theatrically – the Serbian midfielder through himself to the deck. While still on the floor, Grujic was caught peaking at the decision.
It was a solid display from Grujic, despite the obvious gamesmanship, as Porto have reached the last eight thanks to a wonderful display from 38-year-old Pepe at the back. The £20m-rated (Goal) star’s future remains a doubt.
Having posted his delight at beating Juventus on Instagram, Grujic received a comment from ex-Reds teammate Lovren – who teased him for his antics, but also congratulated the midfielder.
His message is translated as: “Hello, what are you doing there on the floor? How nicely they caught you. Well done brother, and good luck,” to which Grujic replied: “Every second is precious, thank you brother.”
