Dejan Lovren sends one word to Tottenham's Ivan Perisic after scoring brilliant goal at the World Cup yesterday
Dejan Lovren has sent one word to Tottenham Hotspur wing-back Ivan Perisic on Instagram after scoring a brilliant goal at the World Cup yesterday.
Perisic has mainly operated as a left wing-back under Antonio Conte this season and has been a brilliant creative outlet for Tottenham.
The 33-year-old hasn’t quite managed to produce his best form at Spurs so far but is already proving to be an important player for Conte.
The former Inter Milan star has been playing in a more advanced role for Croatia at the World Cup as he’s operated off the left wing for Zlatko Dalic’s side.
Perisic managed to grab his first goal of the tournament yesterday as Croatia overcame a resilient Japan side on penalties.
The Japanese took the lead in the first-half through Daizen Maeda but Perisic produced a brilliant header 10 minutes into the second-half.
The Spurs man guided Lovren’s cross into the bottom corner and it turned out to be a crucial goal for his side. Now, the man who assisted Perisic has praised him for his display.
Lovren sends one word to Perisic
Perisic posted two pictures of himself on Instagram after yesterday’s penalty shootout win.
And former Liverpool defender Lovren commented: “Laganiiiii,” which translates to ‘light ones’ in English.
Perisic has impressed for Croatia at the World Cup and has provided two assists in his four appearances in Qatar.
His effort yesterday proved to be a vital one as it handed Croatia the chance to advance to the quarter-finals on penalties after the 1-1 draw.
The Spurs winger will face a daunting test next though as he’s set to face-off against his club teammate Richarlison.
Brazil thrashed South Korea 4-1 last night and put in their most convincing display of the tournament so far.
While Croatia certainly haven’t set the world alight with their displays in Qatar, they’re a side that boasts considerable experience and of course, they made the World Cup final just four years ago.
Perisic will be hoping to get one over Richarlison and help Croatia secure a shock win over Brazil on Friday.
