Pedro Chirivella has posted an emotional message to Liverpool supporters, the club’s coaching staff and his former teammates after he ended his seven-year stay at the club – and plenty of Liverpool stars have responded.

Chirivella, 23, has posted on Instagram after it was confirmed over the weekend that he had left Liverpool on a free transfer. French side Nantes won the race for the Spaniard’s signature, agreeing a three-year deal with the anchoring midfielder.

The move ends Chirivella’s seven-year stay at Anfield, after initially joining as a teenager from Valencia. Chirivella has managed just 11 appearances for Liverpool – though six of those matches came this season, including the 1-0 FA Cup win over Everton.

Steven Gerrard’s Rangers were linked with a move for Chirivella after he became available on a free transfer, while some reports suggested Jurgen Klopp tried to keep him. But he has posted on Instagram a heartfelt message.

Chirivella is not the only player expected to leave Liverpool on a free transfer at the end of the season. Fellow midfielder Adam Lallana is also due to leave the club at the end of the season, as is right-back Nathaniel Clyne.

A whole host of Liverpool players responded to Chirivella’s post, including Dejan Lovren, Curtis Jones and Neco Williams.
