Alisson was at fault for two of Manchester City’s four goals on Sunday evening as Liverpool were humiliated at Anfield by Pep Guardiola’s in-form side – and both Dejan Lovren and Joey Barton have reacted on Twitter.
Liverpool came into the match in a tricky spot of form. They looked as if they had turned a corner, beating Tottenham and West Ham, but a defeat to Brighton meant Sunday’s clash was crucial in the title race.
But Guardiola’s men came out on top. City won a penalty early on, but Ilkay Gundogan blazed over. But the German made amends, tapping home after Alisson had saved Phil Foden’s effort. Mo Salah then won a penalty.
Going down incredibly softly, Salah made it 1-1. But from then on in, it was all City. Alisson then had a 30 seconds to forget, his two clearances dropping at the feet of City players and Foden made him pay.
His run and pass to Gundogan made it 2-1, before Alisson gave it away again – allowing Raheem Sterling to score a third. Man-of-the-match Foden then scored the best of the day, cutting inside and lashing into the top corner.
Critics were aplenty for Alisson, who is considered one of the best in the world – and has proved crucial in Liverpool’s recent success. Lovren and Barton both leapt to the defence of the Brazilian stopper.

Allison has been superb for @LFC
He’ll be back. Not many better than him about.
The race for 4th is interesting now.
Can @Everton gate crash it?
