Tottenham Hotspur placed great emphasis on recruiting young talent during the summer transfer window.

Four of Tottenham’s five summer signings were teenagers, which amplifies what Ange Postecoglou is trying to build in North London.

Lucas Bergvall, the 18-year-old midfielder, was one of the four after his switch from Swedish outfit Djurgarden.

And, he’s already really impressing, with Dejan Kulusevski waxing lyrical in a recent interview.

Dejan Kulusevki says Lucas Bergvall is learning from his Tottenham training

Speaking to Football London, Kulusevski heaped praise on Bergvall and noted that he’s working really hard in training and learning from his teammates.

“He has been fantastic,” the Sweden international said.

“He has come in and he’s doing really good every day, training hard and learning from the other players. I’m happy for him and I’m happy that I can bring him to the national team with me.”

When asked how important Bergvall could be for Sweden, he said: “Huge. He’s very young but I think he can help us already from tomorrow [Monday], so I’m happy that he’s going to be there.

“Of course he’s young but we’ll be there to guide him and help him.”

Lucas Bergvall appears to be ready

All young players need time to be nurtured and developed – not rushed straight into first-team action, but Bergvall seems a little different.

Postecoglou clearly trusts the 2006-born and believes he’s ready having brought him off the bench in all three opening games.

It seems a start isn’t too far away…
