Dejan Kulusevski says Spurs boss Conte gives everything every day
Kulusevski has been one of the major success stories from Conte’s time at the club already. The Swede appeared to be something of a panic buy, arriving on an initial loan on the final day of the previous January transfer window.
He arrived off the back of a very underwhelming period with Juventus. So it appeared to be a gamble for Conte and Fabio Paratici to bring him in ahead of the second-half of last season.
Kulusevski praises Conte
However, any concerns over Kulusevski have been put to bed emphatically. The 22-year-old has been absolutely outstanding. And he has helped show the potential Spurs could have under the Italian.
And Kulusevski expressed just how much respect he has for the Tottenham boss after he was named his country’s player of the year this week.
“He’s very strict, he has a lot of rules,” he told Calciomercato.
“At the same time, he is very kind, he really cares about the person behind the player. He takes care of everyone on the training ground, including young people. Some coaches don’t even train the team, but let the assistants take care of it, he’s there with everyone and gives everything he has every day. I admire him.”
Italian still has a lot to prove at Tottenham
It is still not yet clear whether Conte’s tenure at Spurs is going to be a success. It says a lot that they find themselves in the top-four in the Premier League and into the knockout stages of the Champions League without ever hitting top gear.
However, it is concerning that they have not been able to find that gear. They have now conceded the opening goal in their last nine games in all competitions. And it does appear that they are losing ground on the other heavyweights in the division.
Conte is a winner who has achieved so much success in his managerial career. If he starts to feel that he cannot take Tottenham to the summit, then he will surely walk away.
The challenge for those behind the scenes at Tottenham is to deliver further signings of the calibre of Kulusevski in the windows ahead.
