Defensive reshuffle could help Cenk Tosun revive his flagging Everton career

At the weekend Everton fans got a glimpse of their new defensive option. Yerry Mina was handed his full debut with Kurt Zouma unable to play against his parent club, Chelsea. The Colombian put in a fine performance against the Blues as Everton played out a 0-0 draw at Stamford Bridge.

However, Michael Keane and Zouma have also been in good form this season and some are now suggesting Marco Silva could revert to the three-man defence that worked well at previous club Watford.

Which could be excellent news for Cenk Tosun.

With Lucas Digne and Seamus Coleman moving to right-back, Everton would likely have Idrissa Gana Gueye and Andre Gomes then controlling the midfield. Gylfi Sigurdsson would operate as playmaker still with Bernard and Theo Walcott likely to drop to the bench. It would give Tosun a chance to play up front with Richarlison.

Such a move could save his flagging Everton career. The Turkish star has struggled for goals and minutes this term since the arrival of Richarlison.

Playing up front with the Brazilian in a 3-5-2 formation would perhaps give him the impetus to thrive at Goodison Park.
