Defender Emil Krafth has been pictured at Newcastle United as talk of his impending move to the north east continues.

The 25-year-old has been linked with a move to St James’ Park, with the Northern Echo reporting that a deal is close to being done.

That looks to be the case, with the defender pictured by Simon Greener and posted on Twitter by Chronicle journalist Mark Douglas.

Newcastle really needed to strengthen at full back this summer and look set to follow up the arrival of Jetro Willems at left back with Kratfh on the other side to battle with DeAndre Yedlin.

He’s a 20-cap Swedish international with time to improve as he moves to the Premier League, but with Newcastle, it’s never clear whether they’re buying the most suitable option or just the most affordable.

It’s doubtful he’ll be able to match Yedlin’s pace at right back, but if he offers greater defensive stability then he’ll have a good chance of forcing his way into Steve Bruce’s plans.

And the photograph indicates that a deal is very close to being done with just over a day of the transfer window remaining – but will Newcastle do anything more?
