Barcelona sporting director Deco has ruled out a move for one Arsenal man this summer.

The Gunners are one of the best teams in Europe right now. They are having an amazing season, both in the Premier League and the Champions League.

Arsenal are currently on top of the league table, ahead of both Liverpool and Manchester City. They have a huge chance of going all the way in the title race

Irrespective of what happens in the coming months, one Arsenal man will not leave the club to join Barcelona this summer – Deco has confirmed it.

Barcelona’s Deco rules out move for Arsenal man

There will be a lot of changes at Barcelona this summer with Xavi Hernandez announcing earlier this year that he will be leaving the club.

The Spaniard led the Catalans to the league title last time around, but this has been a very difficult season for the Camp Nou club. They are already eight points behind Real Madrid in La Liga.

Xavi has decided he will be leaving no matter what, and Barcelona’s sporting director Deco is on the hunt for a new manager to replace him this summer.

Among the names linked with the Barca job is Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta, who is one of the best managers in Europe right now.

However, Deco has publicly claimed now that it would be ‘pointless’ to talk about the Gunners boss because he isn’t available.

Speaking on SER Catalunya’s Que t’hi Jugues show, Deco said: “Obviously you can appreciate top managers like Pep Guardiola and Jurgen Klopp as well, but they are not available. Just like Mikel Arteta, Andoni Iraola and Sergio Conceicao too.

“We haven’t spoken with them at all and it’s pointless to mention them. We’re not speaking to any manager yet.”

Mikel Arteta’s contract situation is a concern for Arsenal

Arsenal and Mikel Arteta are both relaxed about the Spaniard’s future at the moment – the focus is completely on the Premier League and the Champions League title races.

However, the longer Arsenal are quiet, the more concerning it becomes.

Arteta will enter the final year of his contract in July. Yes, he is loyal and happy at the Emirates, but letting anyone enter the last 12 months of their deal is a bad idea.

Stan Kroenke, his son Josh, and Edu Gaspar should accelerate the plans to tie Arteta down to a long-term contract.

The 41-year-old completely deserves it, and we expect him to get a big increase on his current £158,000-a-week (GiveMeSport) salary as well.
