Declan Rice urges West Ham to complete permanent signing of Jesse Lingard

Declan Rice is hoping West Ham United can sign Jesse Lingard on a permanent transfer in the summer transfer window, according to Evening Standard.

The Manchester United loanee has enjoyed a staggering loan spell in the East end of London, scoring nine times and assisting further five times across just 15 Premier League appearances.

His form has directly contributed to the team’s fight for European football with the 28-year-old’s attacking contributions winning the Hammers a staggering 11 points from his 15 outings.

Reports emerging have claimed that the Irons are keen on making the temporary move a permanent one, however, are currently unaware of the Red Devils’ intentions with regards to Lingard.

When speaking about signing Lingard on a permanent basis, Rice said: “I hope he does, I really hope he does. He has changed our squad completely. From the first session he was brave on the ball, he’s an out and out No10 – always on the half-turn and facing forward and that is the player we needed. The game he played against Villa when he scored two, we knew we had a real gem on our hands.”

TBR View: Lingard’s signing is a no-brainer, however, suggests Rice could remain in East London

Signing Lingard is probably one of the easiest transfer decisions West Ham will have had to make during their history.

The impact of the Manchester-born ace has been simply sensational and has genuinely changed the outfit from a midtable side to European contenders.

The east Londoners are just one win away from securing Europa League football for the first time since the 2015/2016 campaign.

However, the biggest impact the attacker will have made since his move is making sure Rice remains at the London Stadium. His comments about Lingard in his interview with Jamie Redknapp seem to suggest that should the United academy product join on a permanent transfer, he’d stay too.

There have been reports emerging about the 22-year-old with claims Manchester United and Manchester City are interested in signing the England international.

Lingard’s transfer is crucial for two reasons.

His improvement of the first-team squad and ability to keep the club’s most prized midfielder in London can help West Ham push on to greater things next season.
