Declan Rice reacts on Twitter to West Ham exit in the FA Cup

West Ham midfielder Declan Rice admitted he was “devastated” on Twitter after his side’s exit from the FA Cup on Tuesday night.

The Hammers were beaten 1-0 at Old Trafford by Manchester United in the FA Cup fifth round, with Scott McTominay scoring the winning goal in extra-time.

David Moyes’ side missed out on progressing to the cup quarter-finals, which leaves them to focus on trying to secure a European finish in the Premier League.

With Michail Antonio missing from the squad, West Ham certainly lacked a serious attacking threat and the squad doesn’t look the biggest.

Irons manager Moyes named a fairly strong XI, which included ever-present Rice.

The 22-year-old central midfielder apologised to supporters on social media, as he lost possession in the build-up to McTominay’s winning goal.

TBR’s View:

Rice may have been caught in possession for United’s winning goal, but fans can let him off considering he’s so often their standout individual in the centre of the park.

It shows a lack of midfield options that Moyes couldn’t give the England international some form of rest in the match, which is a concern moving forward.

He tried to inject something for his team going forward, but ultimately they came up short against United.
