Declan Rice delivers three-word Instagram verdict on Celtic star Joe Hart
Joe Hart made his first big mistake on Thursday night, but Celtic have qualified for the Europa League groups and Declan Rice gave his verdict.
Celtic went into the second leg of their Europa League play-off clash against AZ Alkmaar with a 2-0 advantage. It immediately got better.
Having scored in the first leg for Celtic, Kyogo Furuhashi then got another inside three minutes on Thursday. But AZ came roaring back.
But only by Celtic’s doing. Stephen Welsh struggled to deal with a ball over the top and Hart dallied, allowing Zakaria Aboukhlal to steal in and score.
Then, a cross to the back post was inexplicably turned into his own goal by Carl Starfelt. In acres of space, somehow he volleyed into his own net.
Celtic held on, winning 3-2 on aggregate. A tricky night, but one that ended in the right result. Hart posted on Instagram after Thursday night.
What has Declan Rice said to Celtic goalkeeper Hart?
Hart, 34, has made a really solid start at Celtic. Coming into the match, Hart had kept four clean sheets in six games for the Hoops – conceding just four.
It is going to be a slow road to get back to his best. Since leaving Manchester City, he has not really held down a number one role at a permanent club.
He played regularly for Torino, but was then feeding off scraps at West Ham, Burnley and Tottenham. He played alongside Rice at the Hammers.
The England Euro 2020 finalist posted a three-word comment to Hart, applauding the goalkeeper for his defiant message : “What a man”.
Plenty of other Celtic teammates also responded.
