Declan Rice apparently ‘pushing’ for Chelsea move, according to Fabrizio Romano

Respected football journalist, Fabrizio Romano, has said that Declan Rice is ‘pushing’ for a big-money move to Chelsea from West Ham.

The Hammers and England enforcer has been in sensational form this season but has been linked with Chelsea for a number of months now, where best friend, Mason Mount, plays.

But despite those links, Rice has remained with the Hammers and has excelled under David Moyes this season. Indeed, he is now seen as integral for England, too, seemingly winning his battle with Kalvin Phillips for the time being.

However, Romano, speaking on the Here We Go Podcast today, believes Rice – while being respectful to the Hammers – is still looking for a move to Stamford Bridge.

“Declan Rice is pushing to join Chelsea but Declan has been respectful to West Ham. Chelsea will have to complete the deal with West Ham. It’s very difficult to pay €80M in this situation,” Romano said.

The Hammers, and David Moyes, will be hoping that Rice stays put for the immediate at least. A January move seems unlikely, although this sort of talk is bound to come around again in the summer.

Rice is quality, his move is inevitable – TBR View

Unless the Hammers can pull off the unthinkable and sneak a Champions League spot, you’d have to say it looks inevitable that they’ll lost Rice eventually.

He’s simply too good and will want to test himself at the very highest level he can.

But, for the meantime at least, he’s fine at West Ham. He’s playing well, the team is playing well, and there’s a good vibe about the place under David Moyes.
