West Ham United youngster Nathan Trott has officially sealed a loan move to AFC Wimbledon.
The 20-year-old will turn out for the League One side in 2019/20 with the Hammers having signed two goalkeepers on free transfers already this summer in Roberto and David Martin.
Those deals effectively sealed Trott’s exit from the club this summer, with Lukasz Fabianksi firmly established as the club’s number one.
Trott has been with the Irons since 2016 aged 17 having impressed while on trial.
The U17s European Championships winner has been developing nicely since joining the club, but has never appeared for the first-team, and will now embark on his first loan move.
Hammers goalkeeping coach Xavi Valero said of the move (club’s official website): “With Lukasz Fabianski being joined by Roberto and David, this will enable us to give Nathan the opportunity to go out on loan and get some valuable experience of playing first-team football, which we are happy about.”
West Ham fans react
The majority of West Ham fans were pleased to hear of Trott’s loan move, and are hopeful he can now get the regular game time he needs to perhaps be a long-term option for the club.
First-team starlet Declan Rice led the well-wishes on Twitter:

Excellent move – a great player by all accounts and going to a club where he’ll learn a lot on and off the pitch. Look after him for us and send him back ready for the first team! It’s the least you can do after last season…. 😫

Excellent club for him, under wally downes who knows him and will get important game time.
Just an example: Bettenelli for Fulham played in non league for dartford before shining for Fulham in the championship
The League he is in doesn’t mean everything
