'Incredible': Declan Rice and Aaron Ramsdale react to Kidderminster's West Ham performance
Who says the magic of the FA Cup is not alive? We came within minutes of two huge upsets today, with West Ham and Chelsea both being pushed all the way by lower league opposition.
For the Hammers, it took two late, late goals in both normal and extra-time to see off Kidderminster. The non-league outfit had led the whole game, only for Declan Rice and then Jarrod Bowen to break hearts. At Chelsea, a late Plymouth penalty was saved by Kepa to prevent the game going to penalties. And of course, last night, we saw Middlesbrough take out Manchester United at Old Trafford.
The focus today, though, has to be on Kidderminster’s herculean effort against the Hammers. On another day, they sneak through and we would be talking about an all-time giant killing. Alas, it was not to be for Kidderminster, but that didn’t stop a number of top players and pundits talking about them.
Over on Twitter, both Hammers star Rice and England teammate, Aaron Ramsdale, were quick to take to Twitter to sing their praises.
TBR’s View: West Ham Lucky To Escape With FA Cup Win
Overall, it was a bit of a dismal display from the Hammers. But in the end, they did get over the line, albeit thanks to the latest of late goals on both occasions.
However, it’s another step towards potentially winning a trophy, and at the end of the day, that’s all David Moyes will have been looking for.
Still, there’ll be concerns from the Scot. And some who got their chance today might not be seen for some time yet.
