Declan Rice absolutely loved what ‘different class’ West Ham player did against Tottenham last night
It’s been a tough season domestically for the Hammers, who find themselves looking over their shoulder in the league.
In contrast, their maiden Europa Conference League has started brilliantly.
David Moyes’ side are the only team in the competition’s brief history to win all six of their group games.
They earned their place as group winners with a game to go, allowing Moyes to play a number of exciting youngsters in their final match.
One of those who made his senior debut was 16-year-old midfielder Ollie Scarles.
After the match, Declan Rice described the youngster as ‘different class’, and he stood out among his peers.
Scarles should have had at least one assist against FCSB, and was close to scoring as well.
He showed his impressive technique last night for the club’s under-21s when they played Tottenham Hotspur.
He fired in a fantastic free-kick just before half-time that ended up being the only goal of the game.
Rice absolutely loved Scarles’ free-kick last night, and appears to be a big fan of the youngster.

His left-foot strike flew into the top corner, giving the goalkeeper no chance.
Moyes is a big fan of Scarles, and thought he was ‘exceptional’ against FCSB on his debut.
He’s got a number of senior players he can utilise on the wings, which may make giving Scarles more minutes going forward difficult.
However, if the first team continue to struggle, it wouldn’t be a surprise to see him thrown into action at some point.
It would be a surprise if Scarles didn’t spend some of the World Cup break training with the senior squad.
