‘Dear me’: Some Arsenal fans react as Gunners reportedly snub £240k-a-week Brazilian

A number of Arsenal fans have taken to Twitter to give their thoughts on the report suggesting the Gunners have pulled the plug on a move for Philippe Coutinho.

The Gunners have been linked with the Barcelona playmaker for a number of months and recent reports had suggested that big developments were happening on this front.

Last week, The Sun reported that the North Londoners were in talks with Barca over a loan switch for the Brazilian, with both clubs paying a share of his £240,000-a-week wages.

Meanwhile, a recent report from Spanish outlet Sport claimed that Kia Joorabchian was close to securing Willian’s signing for Arsenal before adding that Coutinho could be next, with Arsenal said to “love him”.

However, The Mirror claimed on Wednesday night that Arsenal now have snubbed the opportunity to sign Coutinho – even on loan for the season – in favour of landing Willian.

The outlet added that Arsenal do not have the money to sign both players, meaning as soon as the Willian deal is finalised, Coutinho will have to consider other clubs.

With the transfer window open and developments taking place around the clock, there’s every chance that new reports could emerge and suggest to the contrary.

That said, this one really doesn’t seem to have gone down well with some Gunners fans:
