Aston Villa are on an average run of form with six points in their last six Championship matches, which is not going to see them make up the ground to the play-off positions.

Dean Smith needs to change something drastically, as his team were completely off the pace in a 1-0 away defeat to Brentford on Wednesday night.

The Villa boss arrived with a reputation for blooding youngster, something he should do now to try turn the season around.

Jacob Ramsey is a highly-rated talent at the Midlands giants that was included as a substitute against Brentford, but did not enter the action despite some poor performers.

The attacking midfielder has dazzled at youth level for the Under-23s team and he should get his first-team debut in the near future.

Villa need an injection of quality to their squad and it could take a wonderkid to burst onto the scene to wake up some of the senior players.

Ramsey is clearly on the radar of Smith after his senior call-up and the manager could make a real statement by giving him some minutes in the next fixture against West Brom.

The 17-year-old is a creative playmaker that usually plays in the number 10 role and is a goal machine.

He’s shown that he’s got great technical ability and is confident in front of goal, which is why testing him out could be a masterstroke from Villa.
