Aston Villa manager, Dean Smith, has confirmed that he expects to have striker Keinan Davis fit and ready for the clash with Leeds on Friday.

Davis missed the 1-0 win at Leicester at the weekend with a knock, having been in the squad for Villa’s opening three wins of the season.

The young striker has been playing as a back-up for Ollie Watkins, with last year’s big summer signing, Wesley, still suffering with a long-term injury problem.

And speaking in his press conference ahead of the game with Leeds, manager Smith confirmed that Davis should be fine for his weekend.

Davis has not been prolific in his career at all but provides Villa and Smith with an option off the bench. His strength, presence, and effort levels in the final third, all things which contribute to him having an impact on games.

With Wesley still a long way from returning, it looks like Davis could have a role to play for Villa in the coming months at least.

Every squad needs players who can bring something different to the table and Davis is that sort of player for Villa.

No, he isn’t the most prolific of strikers and at the moment, doesn’t look like getting to that sort of level. But he is improving and seemingly learning what role Smith wants him to play.

Used as something of a battering ram, in a team full of players who enjoy being on the ball, Davis can be a useful tool for Villa.
